April Update
Greetings VUAL pilots I hope things are going well with all of you. I apologize for the recent "quiet" spell from the "main office" due to real world commitments and conflicts the last couple of months. Going forward expect more activity and information regarding the VA.
As most of you know, this is member supported virtual airline. We rely on the generosity of our members to help support us with the operating expenses. Our yearly budget is running approximately $850.00 a year between our web hosting, and our software licenses for the website and SmartCars. We have opened up the donation link for those of you that would like "purchase" stock in the VA. Or in very simple terms, for those that would like to make a donation to help keep the "lights" on. On behalf of the staff I want to thank those members who have donated in the past, many of whom continue in supporting Virtual United.
If you go to your crew center page, upper right corner, you will find a link to our PayPal page where you can make your donation. No amount is too small.
As I mentioned previously one of the first things we needed to do was to stabilize the website and ACARS. Thanks to the hard work by Richard Moravcsik, things have been running smoothly and the transition to SmartCars 3 did not cause any disruptions. This leads into the road map for VUAL going forward.
Going forward we have 3 areas to address:
1. Migrate to a new webserver
2. Introduce a new website (taking suggestions from our pilots about things that other VA's offer their members and incorporate them in to our new site)
3. Implement a new ACARS system. (speaking to many of you we have seen other ACARS being offered and we want to find the best one for our pilots. We welcome all of your suggestions and comments)
Again, please think about contributing to the VA.
Thank you.
